Touch Not Their Filth

[17] Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” – 2 Corinthians 6:17 (NIV)

Mingling with people who are not of the faith has been a major topic discussed in the ministry. Do you know that some believers are not preaching the gospel entirely? That accounts for one of the reasons several churches are not growing exponentially. Some, for the reason of preserving their faith, would rather keep quiet about talking to others about their faith than share it. But is it a good thing to do?

The Bible entreats all believers to preach the gospel, both in and out of season (see 2 Timothy 4:2). So, the matter of preaching the gospel isn’t about when you feel comfortable to do it. Instead, it is about being faithful to God’s commission. However, there are precautions to take as you keep doing this. That is, remain separate unto the Lord.

As you preach to diverse groups of people, you’ll soon realise that some (or even most) of them are into diverse sins. Some fornicate; some are on drugs, etc. As a believer, you are prone to see such things more often as you fulfil your ministry. But the moment you forget that God is the one who sent you and that you ought to be conscious of walking in purity, you might end up doing those bad things with the people. Note that you went among them to influence them, not for them to influence you. So, be strong in the Lord and touch not their filth.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to maintain a conscious purity mindset wherever I go. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
