The Light Shines in the Darkness

[5] “And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” – John 1:5 (NKJV)

In Africa, a power outage is considered normal in several countries, although people don’t like it. People sleep in heat whenever a power outage occurs; some electronic machines get spoilt, and other disadvantages follow suit. In fact, thieves steal even more when lights are out, especially at night. Think about that! But when the light comes back, darkness disappears from the scene completely. So, light and darkness are not friends at all. Where you see the light, you’ll not see darkness unless the light shines on an opaque object, casting a shadow.

Jesus is the light of the world. When He became the Word incarnate, He appeared as the light that shines in the darkness. Why? Because the world is dark without Him? Have you ever wondered why sin is continually increasing in the world? It’s because Jesus is not expressed in that area of life. But these things ought to change. And who can lead that change? It is the believers in Christ—you and me.

You cannot sit down for evil things to continue to happen and do nothing about it. It isn’t good because it adversely affects many lives. Think about those oppressed in several offices and cities. Imagine those whose hearts are deceived by the empty promises of vain men in many countries. Things are not okay in this world; don’t pretend it is. You need to witness Jesus well wherever you are.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for all You do for me. Help me to love You greatly and witness You well wherever I go. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
