[6] “For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
25th December will always be a memorable day in every year’s calendar. Why? Because on this day, even unbelievers realise that Jesus came to the world. It may not be the specific day Jesus was born (because at that time, they weren’t using the Gregorian Calendar as we use it today, and that’s why it’s been hard to trace the exact day Jesus was born). But for sure, it is a day marked down to reflect on Jesus’ birth.
This Christmas, what’s your focus? Is it on the plenty of food you will eat with your family or gifts you’ll receive from your loved ones? The food will fade away. The gifts will be used. The euphoria of the season will also go. But Jesus will remain Lord forever. Make Jesus the focus this season of Christmas. You may go around celebrating Jesus with others. But don’t forget that in Christ, you live, move and have your being (see Acts 17:28).
Remember that Jesus came because of you. Tell someone about Jesus. Lead a quiet life that reflects Him. Make someone’s 25th December memorable by leading him to Christ or preaching Christ to the person. It is always worth it to live each day glorifying God in all things you do.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for 25th December. Help us to reflect on the coming of Your son in the world to seek and save the lost, of which I was a part and am now free because of Him. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
