[10] “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.” – Psalms 111:10 (KJV)
The wisdom of God is in Christ (see Colossians 2:3, 1 Corinthians 1:24). And the moment you come into Christ through salvation, you have accessed this wisdom. Yes, that is it, because the Spirit of Christ lives in you (see Romans 8:9). But there are believers in Christ who are wiser than others, although each one has divine wisdom in them. So, why that difference?
In Psalm 11:10, the Psalmist said that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. But that was not all that he said in that verse. He continued to explain the first part of the scripture, saying, “…a good understanding have all they that do his commandments …”. So, from this, living in fear (reverence) of God in an increasing manner has a direct link to walking in divine obedience to God’s commands. In other words, the more you are careful to obey God’s commands, the higher you’ll increase in wisdom in Christ.
Don’t let self-help books deceive you. There is more power in walking in the revelation of God’s Word than following the trends of this perverse generation. You are a sheep among wolves, so be wise in how you relate to others. God will not let you be ashamed.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your Spirit of wisdom in me. May I constantly live in reverence to Your holy name wherever I find myself. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
