Teach Well If So Is Your Gift

[7] “if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;” – Romans 12:7 (NIV)

There are several diverse gifts of the Holy Spirit, and each believer has at least one. You may ask, why is it that many Christians don’t exhibit their gifts to the fullest of their potential? It’s because every spiritual gift God gives is in its raw state, not its refined state. So, every believer is mandated to harness one’s spiritual gift through diligent work. Some do theirs well, and God rewards them with high levels of impact. But others are haphazard with theirs and wallow in shallow places in life. Hmm!

In Romans 12:6-8, Paul mentions some of the spiritual gifts given by grace to the believers. For each one, he charged the believers to harness it well. But I want to talk about the “teaching” aspect in today’s devotional. Teaching the Word of God is one of the hardest things to do. It has so much to do with diligent studying that the teacher must get the revelation in the scripture accurate before hinting upon it in the congregation. That is where many people don’t understand how laborious pastors work. Some think they have a full week of rest and only show up on Sunday mornings to preach. If you think like that, please repent because it is false.

Dear teacher of the Word, teach well if so is your gift. Don’t be so fascinated about other people’s gifts that you neglect the primary one (in this case, teaching the Word) God has given you for the purposes of ministry. You’ll do yourself a lot of harm if you do that. Celebrate other people’s wins, but don’t wish to be like them. Remain unique in your calling.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your grace and peace in my life. Help me to teach scripture so well for the impact of many lives unto Your glorification. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
