Take Jesus’ Yoke Upon You

[29] “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” – Matthew 11:29 (NKJV)

The first time I read Matthew 11:29, I thought the word “yoke” there referred to egg yolk. Funny. Right? That was years ago. I thank God for spiritual understanding and the provision of Strong’s Concordance. The Word “yoke” there means a connection (like a clamp or vise) between two things, so they move together. So Jesus is saying that He has a connector, but that connector has space on it to accommodate you. And the good news is that His yoke is easy (see Matthew 11:30).

There are too many people battling with life atrocities that are draining them down, especially emotionally and spiritually. And since it affects these areas of their lives, it later manifests in their physical life, eventually ending up as unfortunate incidents. If you are one of the people I am talking about, understand that you need Jesus first before anything else. If it is sickness, medicine treats, but Jesus heals.

People say life is short, but is it really short? I would say time passes so fast, but considering each day in life, life isn’t short. It is pretty long. And if it is long, then you need a helper because not all days will be filled with happiness. There are some days earmarked as evil. In those days, your strength will be tested (see Proverbs 24:10). Jesus is willing to help you in ways unimaginable. But He is gentle. He wants you to take His yoke upon you and learn from Him.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Oh, Jesus, I choose to take Your yoke, which is light, upon me. Help me to take life easy and trust You for great things. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
