“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21 NKJV
Have you ever asked yourself where your heart is? I’m not speaking about your biological heart, but about the one in which the Holy Spirit has shed abroad God’s love (Romans 5:5). Where is it? What preoccupies your thoughts so much that you can’t go a day without thinking about it, or you don’t care to spend whatever amount of money to see its fruition? That is a question many people refuse to answer intentionally for themselves. But Jesus gave a clue to finding it.
He says in Matthew 6:21 that where your heart is where your treasure is. In other words, where you spend a lot of money determines where your heart is. A dating bachelor will have his heart and mind so filled with his partner that he’ll do whatever it takes to connect to the person. Likewise, a minister will never forget to allocate funds to oversee the activities and growth of his ministry. That is a spiritual law no man can amend.
Check what you spend much of your money on. Check to who you give more of your time. It’s a primary indicator to reveal where your heart is.
And if, after watching your life closely, you discover that your heart is in worldly things, come to Jesus. He’ll give you a purposeful life worth living. He’ll redirect your focus from worldly lusts to a godly way of living.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Oh God, I pray You will help me to discover where my heart is. Give me an observant eye that sees beyond physical expressions so that by grace, I can realign every aspect of my life unto your glory and virtue. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
