[6] “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.” – Matthew 7:6 (NKJV)
My parents didn’t have dogs in the house since I was a little, so I am not a big fan of dogs. But intermittently, they used to get cats as pets. In my few years of living with such animals under one roof, I realised that if they aren’t trained, they can mess up precious things in the house without thinking about the effect of what they have done. The same is true for dogs and probably other pets as well. Animals don’t think as humans do; they just live by their instincts, making them very unpredictable in their actions.
But Jesus told some believers in Matthew 7:6 that they shouldn’t give what is holy to dogs. Neither should they cast their pearls before swine. That means that as a believer, don’t share precious things in the faith with people who don’t see their worth. An example of this is talking about ministry matters with unbelievers. It’s such a turnoff conversation. But the question is, if believers are wise enough to know who to speak with and who to shut up about certain matters, why did Jesus proceed to say it? It’s because He knows some of His people will falter in these matters.
Are you a minister of God? Be careful who you open your mouth to talk about issues with. Not everybody sees the value of pastoring or preaching. Walk and stay with like-minded people in the Lord. For such people will see the worth of what you are doing and can encourage you on your race of faith.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your lovingkindness in my life. Give me like-minded friends in Christ with whom I can feel free to share my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
