Stop Inviting Destruction

“Whoever loves a quarrel loves sin; whoever builds a high gate invites destruction.” — Proverbs 17:19 NIV

I checked the meaning of the word “destruction” in the above verse using Strong’s Concordance. And I discovered that it means “crash” or “affliction.” So here’s the point.

God, through Solomon, tells us in His Word that anyone who builds a high gate invites destruction unto himself and anything of concern in his life. That high gate isn’t referring to a physical gate. It’s about mindset. Here’s my paraphrase of the second part of the scripture (Proverbs 17:19), which I’m speaking about today:

“If you build a bad mindset in your mind, it’ll become a stronghold, and you’ll destroy many things in your life because you’ll reject positive change from people who love you.”

This Word goes to everyone, especially those in relationships and particularly women. Well, I’m not referring to women because I’m a man. No! I’ve seen too many men come to complain and take counsel from me about these wrong mindsets carried by the even godly ladies they’re dating.

Save yourself and your relationship from getting destroyed by your own filthy mindset. Get loose and malleable for change.

See, God isn’t a respecter of persons. Save yourself and your relationship from getting destroyed by your own filthy mindset. Get loose and malleable for change. Remember that God is the principal changer of your inner man. However, He sends people to minister His Word unto you so your life will gradually transform to be like Jesus.

Don’t receive God’s Word that confronts your wrong strongholds, and keep holding on to them. You’ll perish if you do that because it’ll always spark quarrels between you and the people you love. And if you don’t take care, you’ll lose God-made relationships only to realise later that you were wrong. Be careful!

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, help me demolish every stronghold in my mind built from bad life experiences. Cause me to become more submissive to your Word each day so that my life will be transformed to become more and more like Jesus. Amen!
