When you want to know many people’s opinions concerning something, the easiest way to do it is by running surveys. Researchers use that a lot because it helps them get lots of data. However, in Christ, it’s essential in terms of leadership.
One time, multitudes were coming to Jesus. Suddenly, He became compassionate about their feeding. All the twelve disciples were with Him. But He chose to ask Philip a question, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” Philip didn’t give him an answer but a complaint saying, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” Later on, Andrew presented some loaves of bread and fish from a boy.
The Bible says Jesus asked Philip that question purposely to test Him. So Jesus wasn’t confused or desperately looking for an answer. No! He wanted to know what was in Philip’s mind concerning the situation.
Sometimes, the best way to transform the thinking of a team member as a leader is by running spiritual surveys in the form of questions that you already have their solutions. It helps the team members to build prescient thoughts in sync with the leader.
If you’re a Christian leader, consistently run spiritual surveys to help the team members think. When Jesus sent us to preach the gospel to the world, He didn’t show us how to do it because He knew the methods would be plenty. I believe every leader is creative. But to help team members put their creative thinking to work, trust them with tasks that will place demands on their creativity. No person’s mind lacks ideas. Pull those ideas out in them to foster teamwork.
