Plead Your Case Before God

[1] “In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’ ” [2] Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, [3] and said, “Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.” – Isaiah 38:1-3 (NKJV)

In Galatians 6:7 (NKJV), it’s written that “… for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” So whatever you do today has effects on you in the future, whether good or bad. And just in case you don’t know, this principle of sowing and reaping didn’t originate from the New Testament. It dates way back to the Old Testament. That is, Genesis 8:22.

King Hezekiah used this principle to extend his life’s years for 15 years. He was sick and near death. So, God sent the prophet Isaiah to tell him that he should put his house in order because he was about to die. In the Old Testament, it wasn’t common for prophetic words to get overturned by prayer. Nobody did that except Hezekiah. So, who taught him? I would say God Himself did that since the king was close to Him.

In the face of life’s circumstances, what do you do? Do you wail and worry like how many people are used to doing, or do you plead your case before God in prayer? The latter should be your hallmark as a believer.

Be like Hezekiah. Don’t just accept any word or report from people. God is greater than man. Have you been diagnosed with any disease doctors say it is incurable? Know that your body is the temple of the Spirit. And if that is so, nothing evil should stay forever in your body. Prayer is effective. Don’t downplay its role in your life. Use it effectively.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, I plead my case before you. Vindicate your servant in the midst of every difficulty. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen!
