“I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.” - Luke 11:8 NKJV
Sometimes, we don’t always get what we ask because we fail to apply force through persistence. Every serious man who knows what he wants is always persistent if he suffers denial multiple times because he knows what he’ll use that thing to do.
In Luke 11:5-8, Jesus narrated a parable of a man who needed three loaves of bread from his friend at midnight. His friend was asleep and wasn’t willing to give him what he wanted. However, this man knew the time was inconvenient; and he couldn’t watch his visitor sleep with hunger. So, he continued to persist in asking his friend for the loaves of bread. From Jesus’ own words, that man will give the loaves of bread to the one asking for it because of his shameless persistence.
The man persisted in asking his friend for the loaves of bread because it was for the benefit of his visitor.
When you ask God repeatedly about something, it doesn’t mean He hasn’t heard it. However, when you are persistent in your request, the delay has the power to purify your motives behind those requests. Ask what you want from God, but not with selfish intentions behind it.
You’re a blessing.
