Practice Hospitality

“Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” - Romans 12:13 NIV

“Everybody needs help, but not everybody wants it.” — Dag Heward-Mills

In the brethren, there’ll always be people of varied financial standards. Some will be in need, and some will always have what they need. Each Christian needs to learn how to practice hospitality to all manner of people regardless of age, gender, and race, especially if such people are believers.

However, because of selfishness and the absence of the manifestation of God’s love in many believers, some have decided to withhold perishable earthly materials from people in need. Today, a fellow Christian can determine to sack another brethren lodging at his place for a short time just because the room is his, forgetting that Christ died for us while we were ungodly people (Romans 5:6).

Understand that hospitality isn’t just a cultural act. It’s a spiritual act. So in Christ, it’s done by practising the love of God unto people. Before you withhold something belonging to you from a friend who needs it, think about the suffering that person will endure when you don’t give. Love isn’t selfish. Practice hospitality, not only to strangers but in the church. Treat people well, at least for the Lord’s sake.

You’re a blessing.
