Pay a Deaf Ear to Lies

[7] “So the women sang as they danced, and said: “Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.” [8] Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?” [9] So Saul eyed David from that day forward.” – 1 Samuel 18:7-9 (NKJV)

Life is filled with lots of things. And for that sake, some issues come up every day. Some of these issues are made up of lies, and the devil uses many to distract the children of God from focusing on God’s assignments in their lives. Personally, I have dealt with a lot of issues concerning keeping my heart at peace in the midst of hearing lies being said about me. In those moments, Proverbs 4:23 comes to light brighter in my life. It says,

Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.”

Proverbs 4:23 (NKJV)

Have you realised that the degree to which you give attention to an issue is the degree to which it affects your heart? Anxiety increases when you keep feeding yourself the wrong content from either people or the media. That is why you must pay attention to who you are walking with and listening to in your life.

Saul, in the Old Testament, downplayed this principle, and it affected him for the rest of his lifetime. When David killed Goliath, people started singing that Saul had killed thousands, but David had killed tens of thousands. Meanwhile, David had only killed Goliath and wasn’t even an experienced soldier. Saul listened to lies, and because of that, he lost focus on the throne and started chasing after David.

You must pay a deaf ear to lies and evil talks of people. Guard your focus from being stolen by people going nowhere in life who the devil has sent to cause havoc in His children’s lives.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for liberation in my life. Help me to keep my focus on You and what You’ve called me to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
