[46] “For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? [47] And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? [48] Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” — Matthew 5:46 - 48 NKJV
God is love, and His kind of love has no loopholes. He supplies rain to both evil and good people. He loved the world so much that He gave Jesus Christ to come and die for the propitiation of the entire sin of mankind.
If this is the same God who lives in us, and Jesus commands us to be perfect just as the Father in heaven is (see Matthew 5:48), then it’s possible to love those who don’t love us as children of God.
There’s nothing God says “do” that you cannot do because He provides grace to do every one of His commands. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you as you stand firm in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because of a truth, this world will be better if undeserving people get loved by unexpected believers in Christ.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, I pray that I’ll remain empowered to love those who hate me, whether I know them or not. Give me the wisdom to manage human relationships in my life effectively. Amen!
