Not Everything Is Beneficial to Do as a Believer

[23] “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.” – 1 Corinthians 10:23 (NIV)

Did you know that not everything is beneficial for you to do as a believer in Christ? Maybe you are young and probably going around running errands for others, so you may not understand what I’m saying well. But that is the reality. You’re not born to do everything in life. And the earlier you know this, the better.

There is something I have noticed about life. If you don’t focus on your divine assignment, others will find work for you. It’s one thing to help others and another to be taken away from your divine assignment entirely. The life of Christ in you gives you liberty. But it is written in Galatians 5:13 (NKJV) that,

“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”

Serve one another in love. Help those God tells you to help, and don’t feel guilty to walk away from things that are of no benefit to your life, especially sinful acts like smoking and alcoholism. Protect your liberty from being misused by the deceitful ways of the world.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to live so focused on my divine mandate in You. Link me to those You’ve ordained to be in my life every season. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
