Let No Man Lead You Astray

[7] “Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.” – 1 John 3:7 (NIV)

We live in a generation where media is constantly improving. Statistics show that many people spend more than four hours daily on their phones. While that is an alarming revelation, my concern is what people consume on their devices. There is nothing wrong with using your phone to watch hours of sound doctrinal teaching. But on the other hand, it is very dangerous to listen to someone online spreading false doctrine. For this, the Apostle John wrote a warning for believers.

He said in 1 John 3:7 that as children of God, we should let no man lead us astray. That means it’s your personal responsibility as God’s child to take heed to who you are listening to, especially if you are a pastor or a shepherd in God’s house. What you hear, see, and watch has a direct influence on your mind. So, the earlier you filter your media content, the better.

Be like Daniel, who purposed in his heart not to soil his life with the general food given to the Babylonians when they went into exile. Define your spiritual diet. Stand firm about the truth, and unfollow or remove anyone who doesn’t preach sound doctrine from God’s Word, lest you be deceived. Above all, take personal responsibility for your spiritual growth by pursuing a deeper intimacy with God daily.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for divine revelation. Help me know Your truth better each day as I walk with You in this life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
