[10] “He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.” – 1 John 2:10 (NKJV)
Our ministry released a devotional two days ago explaining that God is light. But today, we want to discuss one practical expression of what was written earlier. That is, he who has love for his brother abides in the light (of God).
God is light. But this God lives in each believer in Christ. And in 1 John 4:8, the Bible says God is love. That means every believer who has God, the light, in him automatically has His love. So, when such a believer expresses love for his brother (or sister) in the Lord, it is a testimony that he abides in the light of God.
Dear one, do you sense some hatred for anyone in the body of Christ? I tell you, you need to check your relationship with God well. You cannot be a Christian and hate people. Yes, there is a place of anger and resentment towards offence. But forgiveness is possible because God, who is love, won’t allow unforgiveness to cohabit with His Spirit in your heart.
The Church is not made of perfect people. There are people with diverse attitudes in the body of Christ, some of which were a product of their slow spiritual maturity and upbringing. Love your fellow brethren from a pure heart, and let bygones be bygones.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me love my fellow brothers and sisters unconditionally in Christ’s body. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
