Keep the Unity of the Spirit

[1] “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, [2] with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, [3] endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” – Ephesians 4:1-3 (NKJV)

There were many things Paul told the Ephesian church as he began wrapping up his epistle to this amazing church. One of them is that they should keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. You may ask, what does that mean?

Well, unity means togetherness. So, Paul is entreating us that, as believers, we can dwell together in spiritual harmony by fostering peace among ourselves. But why did he say that? Because he knew that relationships are one of the most complex areas of life in this world. Where more than one person exists, there can be potential problems between the people. Many married couples fight. In some companies, some staff workers have grudges over others in speech and behaviour. Oh, what a tragedy.

Some people think that in Christ, there is no fault amongst the brethren. And so, when they get offended in church, they leave and have open grudges with others. Nowhere, even in the Church, is without offence. Accept the fact that as you live and interact with others, you will face problems. For some, the fault may not come from you. Forgive those who offend you, and always pursue peace with all men as much as possible. The Lord is your strength.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making me love You. Help me to have good relationships with others as I live and interact with them. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
