[20] “Remember the word that I said to you, A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.” – John 15:20 (NKJV)
Are you surprised that people who don’t believe in Jesus hate Christians so much? Maybe you’ve not encountered such hatred before because your life is surrounded by people who are like-minded in the faith. I used to mingle with such a kind of people for years, so I thought everybody had a pure mentality. Guess what? I was greatly mistaken when I had to relocate to a different place due to work schedules. I saw that not everybody that smiled at me actually liked me. It happened so much that I became used to it. What am I saying here?
Don’t be surprised when unbelievers persecute you for your faith. Never underrate how evil people hate it to see you live like Jesus. Our Lord said in John 15:20 that since they (representing unbelievers) persecuted Him, they will also persecute us. Maybe in this world, people are not killed for their faith like how it used to be in the olden days. But for sure, some believers are restricted access to specific jobs and areas of this world because of their faith.
Can I encourage you today? Never give up on God, even in the midst of fierce persecution. He knew how much you would be persecuted since the day you accepted Jesus as Lord and personal saviour. He knows how to carry you forward in the faith till the end. Just don’t give up. Remain connected to Him, even in the midst of extreme persecution and busyness. He will never leave nor forsake you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for encouraging me when I feel down and discouraged. Even in the midst of extreme persecution, strengthen me to hold fast to the gospel. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
