[7] “But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.” – Philippians 3:7 (NKJV)
In a world where materialism has been the order of the day, I want to ask you a solemn question. Is Jesus enough for you? Why do you go to church? Is it because you want God to give you a husband/wife, a house, a business, or a job opportunity? What if God doesn’t give you all these things within a few years? Will you still go to church? And what if you have so much wealth and all the things you can afford in this life? Will you still go to church or be that same humble you before Him when you had nothing?
You see, the devil has worked remarkably hard in many lives to reduce Christianity to some materialistic religion they are blindly following. But it shouldn’t be your case. Jesus is bigger than any material thing in this world. He is the owner of the universe. So, you can’t limit Him on what He does for you.
Paul said in Philippians 3:7 that all the things that were gains to him, including his certificates, knowledge about the law and all that, have been counted as a loss in his life so he can gain Christ. That means that if anybody wants to know God more, there is a price to pay. There are things you must let go of if you want to get to the fullness of your calling. As you lose trust in those things and Jesus becomes number one in your priority, that is when you can say that Jesus is enough for you.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me make You the number one priority on my priority list for all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
