God Will Lead You in the Paths of Righteousness

[3] “He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” – Psalms 23:3 (NKJV)

Psalm 23 is one of the most popular Psalms in the Bible. I remember learning how to recite it when I was in primary school (about 16 years ago at the time of this writing). But usually, when something becomes common, the value people place on it diminishes with time. When that happens, its benefits and impact on people become trivialised. Let’s look at verse 3.

In Psalm 23:3, David said that God leads him in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. David knew that all his right doings in his life were not attributed to his naturally good character. Instead, it was God’s hand at work in his life. You may say, Oh, but it’s Old Testament. I would say David’s claim is still in effect today. As a Christian, you must know that you cannot even serve God acceptably without Him giving you the grace to do that (see Hebrews 12:28). Nothing from your flesh can satisfy God because it has zero profit before Him (see John 6:63). That is why you cannot work to earn your salvation. He will give it to you.

God will lead you in the paths of righteousness, but not when you’ve not surrendered to His will. When you follow God, He won’t lead you to do things normally like everyone does. No! He is a great God, and His ways are past finding out. Stick to what His Word has said concerning your life, and don’t grumble about His leadership directions in your life.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to understand Your ways. Lead me in the paths of righteousness so I can, by grace, serve You acceptably. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
