In Everything by Prayer

[6] “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;” – Philippians 4:6 (NKJV)

God designed prayer in Christ to be the first go-to in everything. So, one of the most terrible things that can happen to a person is his forgetfulness to pray. When your child or spouse is sick, do you consult your doctor first or God? When people are accusing you negatively of something you’ve not done, do you pray first or go straight to defend yourself?

As believers in Christ, prayer is our first defence mechanism, not eloquent speech or physique. You must know that no issue can destabilise your life until you give your mind to it. In fact, God is so intentional about this, so much so that He admonished us in Philippians 4:6 to be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication. Think about that for a while.

If you let God know every little thing that bothers your mind, do you think you’ll continue being anxious? Of course not. Maybe you’ve not yet experienced what I’m speaking of, but I do. I don’t have time to sit down worrying about my life while God is within me looking forward to ensuring every prophecy He has said about my life comes to pass.

If a friend spoke badly about you, tell God about it first. Don’t retaliate to the person immediately, or else you’ll do it out of anger and end up causing much more pain in your heart. Before you move out to spend your day, spend enough time with God. You’ll always be on top of issues.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to remember always that in everything, prayer is the first thing to do before applying any form of wisdom. For You have said that I should live by every word that proceeds from Your mouth (Matthew 4:4), not my knowledge. Keep me conscious of this truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
