[13] “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)
I suppose today’s devotional topic caught your attention. You are probably bombarded with many things that are obscene, making temptations more frequent in your life. And obviously, when temptations abound, opportunities to sin will also increase. Today, the kinds of sins people keep committing in this generation keep worsening because of new evil ways of doing things. God have mercy!
Nevertheless, the Word of God stands sure. It says that no temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man. Guess what that means? It implies that no matter what temptation you have faced in your life, from childhood to your current life today, none of them has ever been above what you can handle. That means if you ever fell to any sin, it’s your fault; you simply didn’t take responsibility. Grace gives freedom and liberty to the people of God in life. However, those two privileges must be managed very well by using them to serve one another in love (see Galatians 5:13).
God won’t let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. For every temptation the devil serves you with, be it an evil suggestion in your mind, obscene media, or any other thing, God will always provide a way of escape from it. For instance, if your social media feed serves you with porn, you have divine power resident in you to say no and block it. If you watch it, you didn’t use that power in you, and that’s your responsibility. But ask for a cleansing of thoughts from God, lest the devil plagues you with self-condemning thoughts, which are never good for you.
Prayer:
Father, help me always use the divine power to overcome every temptation the devil throws in my path. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
