“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” — III John 1:2 NKJV
Seeing my Dad suffer from a stroke for over ten years and seeing him take medicine daily, sickness is one thing I hate in my life. I see sickness as an enemy of purpose because if I am sick, I won’t have the strength to fulfil God’s purpose for bringing me into the world.
Later on, I studied the Bible and came across 3 John 2. And I saw that God wants me to be in health, not come begging for healing every single time I get sick. And unfortunately, that’s how some of us Christians see God today. That is, having a head knowledge of something in scripture without living it as a lifestyle.
You may know off head that God wants you to be in health, and prosper in all things as your soul prospers too – by constant reception of the Word. But have you considered walking in health as part of your spiritual inheritance in Christ?
God doesn’t want you to be sick. No, not at all. Never say in your heart that that sickness you’re battling with comes from God. No! It doesn’t. It is not God-sent but can be God-used to make you rest after a long time of constant work with neglect of prayer and fasting.
Discern the meaning of what you’re going through, and stop blaming God for your issues. He’s your teacher and guide. And He’ll never do you evil. Trust in Him.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, help me to be in health always, so I can have enough strength each day to fulfil Your purpose for my life. Amen!
