Do Not Receive God’s Grace in Vain

[1] “As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.” – 2 Corinthians 6:1 (NIV)

Some define God’s grace as unmerited favour from God to man. But grace is not just about that! I believe it consists of several dimensions solely for the benefit of the believer. Why? Because Jesus, the person of grace (see John 1:14), doesn’t only supply favour. One of the significant things He supplies is divine empowerment to work. And Paul was one of the influential benefactors of this dimension of grace. He saw it evident in his own life, so much so that he said in 1 Corinthians 15:10 (NKJV) that,

“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

Because Paul saw the powerful effect of God’s grace upon His life, he implored the Corinthian believers that they shouldn’t receive God’s grace in vain. Today, that same word is a warning to you, dear believer. Whatever God calls you to do, He supplies the grace to fulfil it. So, maybe you’ve been slack in doing something He told you to do or have delayed. Just as scripture has said, please do not receive God’s grace in vain in your journey to fulfil your calling.

Generations are depending on you to pay the heavy price of sacrifice in fulfilling God’s call upon your life. So, disobedience to God is the deprivation of your generation from your impact. Here is a caution: if you don’t do what God told you to do, He’ll find another person to do it. But in the day of Christ, you’ll account for that neglect. Obey God, dear Christian.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, empower me to keep doing the work you’ve called me to do, no matter where I am on the face of this Earth. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
