“I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.” — Galatians 2:21 NKJV
One stressful thing to do in life as a child of God is to live by the dictates of the flesh. In other words, it’s foolish to live by some sect of rules and call yourself righteous because you submitted to those rules.
God hasn’t given us some sect of rules to follow in Christ. No! He gave us a relationship when He saved us. In the relationship, there may be some things He can instruct you to do for your own good, but that doesn’t nullify the truth that you’re still in a relationship with God. For example, if a husband tells his wife to wash bowls after evening meals, does that activity replace her marital relationship? Certainly not! So just because God leads you doesn’t mean He has reduced your fellowship with Him based on do’s and don’ts.
Paul says he doesn’t set aside God’s grace. Why? Because if righteousness came by the law, then Christ died in vain. Paul did so many great things for God. He lived righteously on Earth. But he comes to tell us that everything he did was because of grace. So grace is more powerful than the law.
In grace, you receive spiritual empowerment to live as you ought to live in Christ, not how you want to. Humans, by nature, are usually selfish and naturally desire things destructive to God’s purposes in their lives. Don’t make God force you to obey Him. Just submit yourself to Him even if you don’t understand His leading. He’ll make your life glorious.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, help me recognise your grace upon my life concerning everything I’m doing now. Don’t let me fulfil your mandate with my human works, which fade out with time. Empower me with Your anointing of the Spirit in me to live as You created me to live. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
