[62] “But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” — Luke 9:62 (NKJV)
One thing that disqualifies you from being employed by Jesus in His service, especially full-time ministry, is your ability not to let go of your ordinary ways of doing life as you embrace His. He said in Luke 9:62 that anyone who puts his hand to the plow (gets called into the ministry) and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God. Interesting!
When you resist obeying God’s voice, you tell God indirectly that His destiny for your life is irrelevant to you. And it’s sad to say that many people have ended up like this. To such people, Matthew 16:25 (NKJV) applies to them.
“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”
If you think of always protecting your life and never allowing God to have His way, you’ll still live but become irrelevant to the purposes of God. And the effect of that decision is eternal. Why? Because you didn’t submit to God’s will. Hence you’ll not walk in the good works God created you in Christ. Meaning, you’ll have nothing to present to Jesus during the white throne judgement.
Do not look back when God calls you. Never be so stringent on protecting your life that you’ll not allow God to flexibly instruct you to do things that are according to His ways. That is for your protection. Lean on Jesus and follow Him wholeheartedly.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to be a forward thinker whenever You tell me to do something in my life. I refuse to hesitate to answer every one of Your divine call. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
