Give Generously If So Is Your Divine Gift

[8] “if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” – Romans 12:8 (NIV)

In Christ, there are so many spiritual gifts. They are so many that the Bible says each one (believer) has his own unique gift (see 1 Corinthians 12:4). It is not limited to prophecy, Bible teaching, discerning of spirits, and other notable ones. In Romans 12:6-8, Paul listed some. But I want to talk about one of them: generous giving.

Paul said some believers have giving as their spiritual gift. That means some Christians are easy let-goers of what they have or get for the benefit of others. Selfishness is not a problem for such people because of how they live. However, the others who don’t have that gift can still give, but not as freely or as generously as those who have the gift. Why do I say that?

In 1 Corinthians 13:5, the Bible says that love is not self-seeking. Since God is love (see 1 John 4:8) and He lives in each believer by His Spirit (see Romans 8:9, 1 John 4:4), then every believer can demonstrate selflessness, although it will be in varying levels.

If you discover in your life that whenever you get something, you want to give to others, it’s a sign that you have giving as your divine gift. So, if that is true for you, then give generously. Don’t complain when you do so because it’ll not help you get the utmost blessing embedded in utilising that gift of yours.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for being selfless in my life. Help me to bless others with every spiritual gift You have given me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
