[18] “Because of laziness the building decays, And through idleness of hands the house leaks.” – Ecclesiastes 10:18 (NKJV)
Since God helped me to start TBDN back in 2018, there are so many things I have learnt on the journey. One of them is that everything in life is a work in progress. When you stop working at something, it’ll cease developing or becoming better. In construction, you realise that an uncompleted building decays with time after it’s been abandoned. In fact, when buildings are abandoned for so long, any attempt to continue it might require everything to be pulled down first.
Solomon knew this. He wrote in Ecclesiastes 10:18 that a building decays because of laziness. Then, he added that through idleness of hands, the house leaks. Take it from a different perspective. What you need to keep building anything, especially the works of your hands, is not just money but diligence. You can have money, but without diligence, what you are doing will turn into a loss. The second part of the scripture means that even after the works of your hands have gained firm establishment, don’t become idle, or else loopholes will start developing and ruin your work.
Dear one, don’t dilute God’s vision for your life because of laziness. Don’t keep listing many excuses in your mind to explain why you cannot do this or that. No! It’ll just make you abandon that work, and you will say that things don’t work. God doesn’t want you to be a failure, so don’t make yourself one.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to keep working no matter what happens in my life. May I never allow laziness or challenges to stop me from continuing what you have commissioned my hands to do. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
