[13] “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;” — I Peter 1:13 NKJV
As believers in Christ living in a chaotic world full of evil deeds, our faith is being attacked each day by the unwholesome territories we live in. By saying this, I’m not referring to the poor conditions of our physical habitats but the persecutions that come against the faith we’ve decided to stand for.
Too many people fill churches on Sunday and yet return to face the rest of the days each week with very filthy mindsets about life. And this didn’t start today. It existed in the days of the early church, even when Peter wrote his first epistle to believers scattered across the face of the Earth.
If it began in those days, and it’s still happening today, then it’ll not cease. Jesus said expressly in John 16:33 NKJV that,
“… In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Therefore, in Peter’s encouraging scripture to the believers (see 1 Peter 1:13), and now to you, you must learn how to gird up the loins of your mind as you set your hope fully upon the future grace of Jesus’ revelation.
In other words, a reason why you shouldn’t be discouraged in the midst of various life issues is that there’s grace to see the second revelation of Christ, whether you’ll be physically present or not. So, for that sake, glory in tribulations (see Romans 5:3) because there’s nothing you’ll go through for the cause of Christ that the Father won’t reward you. Watch in hope of the Lord.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the revelation that I should gird up the loins of my mind with the gospel in the midst of trials and tribulations. May your divine peace in my heart never be compromised by my inactions. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
