[1] “Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.” – Romans 14:1 NIV
Have you ever gotten into an argument with any compatriots before? How does it feel? So funny but also disgusting. Right? I remember going on evangelism with a few people in my undergraduate days at the university one weekend. One guy continually pressured me with Bible questions he didn’t understand. And by God’s grace, I could answer all the questions he brought up. Later on, I realised the guy wanted answers not because he needed them but because he wanted to cause a commotion in the evangelical mission that day.
There are so many scriptures in the New Testament that condemn believers from engaging in arguments, even disputable matters. Romans 14:1 is one of them. The hallmark of your life as a believer is godly peace. Why? Because Jesus has given His peace to you (see John 14:27).
That means any matter that doesn’t harness the peace of Christ in you shouldn’t get your attention. Even if the matter requires you to step in, go with the mindset of restoring peace, not to worsen the commotion. By all means, don’t quarrel over disputable matters. May the Lord grant you the strength to navigate relationships well.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for everything You keep doing for me. Help me to retain Your peace in my heart wherever I go. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
