[7] He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” – Mark 5:7 (NIV)
One of the most important things Jesus had that made ministry so easy for Him was His divine authority. It was so strong that there were times when demon-possessed people ran to Him for deliverance without Him going to seek them out. One such case was the madman at Gadara. The moment Jesus landed on the land, the demons in the man compelled him to run to Him (Jesus), shouting at the top of his voice, saying, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” Look at that!
Jesus, being highly discerning, immediately knew that there was a problem with this man’s life. He was not a normal person. So, after making some enquiries with the demons in that man, He set him free. Wow! You may never know how troubled and distressed people are in this life, not because they did something terrible but because some wicked people and demons have had the space to cause harm to their lives. Yes, I say this because every unbeliever doesn’t have God’s covering, making it easily accessible for the devil to torment their lives.
If you are a preacher sent from God reading this today, I counsel you that don’t go out to preach without divine authority. If you do, you will return with hurts instead of joy because God hasn’t validated you. The ministry isn’t just about holding a microphone or standing before crowds. It is more about delivering oppressed people, which can’t be done without divine authority. Be guided!
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your divine authority and covering in my life. Help me to grow in grace and in Your knowledge as I minister to Your people. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
