[3] “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? [4] How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? [5] You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” — Matthew 7:3 - 5 NIV
How often do you detect and solve your own life’s mistakes? I’ve met several people who frequently complain about how bad other people’s attitudes are in their homes, workplaces and schools but never their own attitudes.
Most people, including some Christians, are fast detectors of other people’s errors, but not themselves. Sometimes, we believers in Christ forget that there’s a charge on us in the Word to watch our lives closely (1 Timothy 4:16). And because of this truth, we’re not supposed to be only concerned with correcting others at the expense of ourselves.
Sometimes, the bad thing you complain others are practising were the very things God delivered you from.

Jesus said in Matthew 7:3-5 (paraphrasing) that only hypocrites judge others before themselves. Sometimes, the bad thing you complain others are practising were the very things God delivered you from. So why should you blame them? Instead, all you need to do is to approach God for Him to purge you and show you His way to help that fellow overcome that sin.
God always looks at our hearts before our actions (1 Samuel 16:7). No man came to Him perfect. Instead, He perfects those He calls. So allow people to make their mistakes, correcting them if you get the opportunity. But become your first critic. Let the Holy Spirit help you detect and solve your own life’s problems by revelation in the Word as God’s righteousness (Romans 1:17). That way, you’ll become more and more like Jesus.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, help me judge myself in the light of Your loving Word. So that where I falter, by Your working power in me to do Your good work, will be dealt with. Amen!
