[26] “But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.” – Matthew 8:26 (NKJV)
Life isn’t always smooth. There are also storms in it. And because of this truth, it is essential to understand that prayer is necessary to order your life according to the will and ways of God. Let me tell you something. We live in an evil age. So the devil won’t watch you have a life full of bliss without trying to do something to turn you down. You must pray.
In Matthew 8:23, we see from the scriptures that Jesus got into the boat and led the disciples to the other side of the lake. But a short while, a storm arose and was beating into the ship. Jesus was fast asleep, so He didn’t bother thinking about how shaky the boat was. The likes of Peter and Andrew, who had been fishermen before being called into full-time ministry, were doing their best to stabilise the boat. But it was to no avail. Later, they called Jesus, and He arose to calm down the storm by divine authority. Guess what? The disciples were amazed at Jesus. He solved in split seconds what they were using their efforts to handle for a long while. Here are a few tips to take note of.
1. Your human skill and expertise will not always guarantee success in solving your problems.
2. Jesus shouldn’t be your last option when you encounter problems in life. No! He must be the first.
3. As a believer, you have divine authority to calm down every storm (problem) that arises in your life by the prayer of faith. Do not sit down for things to worsen before you call on Jesus. No! Keep fellowshipping with Him no matter where you are.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Thank You, God, for giving us divine authority to calm down storms in our lives. Help us to be devoted to prayer no matter where we find ourselves. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
