“Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.” — Acts 9:39 NKJV
Assuming you die today, ask yourself, “what will others remember you for doing?” If you can’t answer this question well, it’s a sign that you’re not living on purpose.
Every child of God is created in Christ to walk in good works (Ephesians 2:10). And because of that, we Christians ought to be noted for spreading the net of God’s kingdom influence through our daily service to various people. However, it’s the continuity in living this way that automatically builds a legacy unto God for you and others.
People must note you for doing specific things that contribute to the growth of the body of Christ. And I must say that this doesn’t always have to be related to church.
Dorcas was a woman of God who got noted for giving alms and sowing clothes to widows. She wasn’t a preacher or a travelling minister with high media exposure, but she lived purposefully. Her deeds built a legacy for her, and it was so strong that the people she served needed her back alive when she died.
You cannot build a legacy in Christ without living on purpose. In as much as you’ve got to help in church activities, broaden your thinking on the subject of serving God. Let God reveal your purpose to you and give your maximum time to fulfil it by continually serving others before time catches up with your age.
May God strengthen you to keep your spiritual fervour always as you serve Him acceptably while fulfilling divine purpose.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I ask you to give me a life of relevance today. Help me identify my special calling so I‘d be consistent in its servitude to build a legacy that glorifies Your name in heaven. Amen!
