Beware of Deceiving People

[15] “Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin till they are drunk, so that he can gaze on their naked bodies! [16] You will be filled with shame instead of glory. Now it is your turn! Drink and let your nakedness be exposed! The cup from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.” — Habakkuk 2:15 - 16 NIV

Being in the ministry terrain for a while, I’ve seen how people use all kinds of evil means to launch themselves out professing the name of Jesus yet don’t know him. People deceivers are no more in shrines and traditional homes. The devil had launched them in the form of well-dressed clothes in chapels. But a strong judgement awaits such people. And a part of that judgement is written in Habakkuk 2:16.

God says that after the deceiver is done fooling people, he will be filled with shame instead of glory. The Lord’s disgrace will cover all the (vain) glory he sought from men. That is a strong warning, especially to anyone who wants to venture into the ministry for selfish reasons like money or fame.

Believe the Word of God in Ephesians 3:20 NIV, that,

[20] Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

God can give you all that you dream of having. But He won’t give you what’s beyond your capacity to handle, or else it’ll be burdensome in your life.

Beware of deceiving people. And let not impatience drive you to use evil means to get the things God can freely give you. If you do, you’ll end up in shame.

Choose the way of spiritual growth as you patiently wait upon the Lord for His lifting in due time.

Father, thank You for warning me about deception in Habakkuk 2:15-16. I pray for the tenacity to wait upon your time for lifting me up as I humbly serve you where I’m placed now. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
