[1] Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, [2] but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father.” – Galatians 4:1-2 (NKJV)
How does it feel to see a fresh baby? So cute. Right? But do you know that if the child isn’t well attended to, he’ll die? Yes, that is the reality. If a child is denied food and access to basic life needs, especially days after birth, he’ll pass on. Why? Because the baby needs attention and provision from the guardians to survive. In the same way, a farmer has to be dedicated to ensuring his crops are well attended to so they can grow to bear fruits.
The Bible says in Galatians 4:1-2 that as long as an heir is a child, he’s not different from the appearance of a slave, even though he has the authority. But what? He’s under guardians and stewards until he matures enough to start reigning in full authority. Kings protect their children but don’t give them enough authority to do whatever they like until they mature. Otherwise, they’ll abuse the authority.
In the same way, when you are born again, you have access to all the privileges in God’s grace. But God, in His wisdom, will deny you access to some of them so that you’ll grow in grace and knowledge of Him. And when that happens, it’ll be easy to manage that blessing when they start coming. Let me tell you this. Be subject to guardians and trustees as you mature in faith. Submit to your spiritual heads and pursue a deeper intimacy with God. He’ll lavish you with more blessings as you step up in faith.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, help me to be subject to guardians and trustees as I mature in faith to do Your will. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
