[17] “And Jesus answered and said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they marveled at Him.” – Mark 12:17 (NKJV)
How people handle money is one area where many fall short, both in their personal lives and business. There is a statistic that about eighty percent of businesses fail within the first five years after inception. Why? Because of poor money management. Is that something we should be proud of? No! But global issues can’t be solved so easily. So, God wants His children, who are in the world but not of it, to distinguish themselves from this norm by embracing His wisdom in the area of finance handling.
One time, some people approached Jesus about the issue of paying taxes to Caesar, the emperor of Rome at that time. This question came up because, at that time, Israel was under the rulership of the Romans, so taxes were paid to Caesar, not any Israeli king. But Jesus replied, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” The people marvelled at Him because they thought Jesus would disregard such a question.
Today, what Jesus said is a lesson to any Christian businessman concerning taxes. Never think you are too wise to evade taxes. Just be diligent with money. Don’t cheat and cut corners in your finance handling lifestyle. It will do you no good. In fact, it is nice to be a law-abiding believer who isn’t at fault with any government law. You’ll just have your peace to live unto God.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your wisdom in my life. Help me handle my finances well for Your glory. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
