[7] "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" – Matthew 7:7 (KJV)
Have you ever seen a child worry about something he wants if he knows his parents can afford it and pay for it if he asks them? Maybe I’m yet to see such a child. But for me, I have never encountered such before. Usually, little children think their parents are wealthy because they provide everything they need. And that is true. But it’s quite unfortunate that believers in Christ don’t have this mentality about God.
The primary purpose of prayer isn’t to ask God for things. It is to fellowship with Him. However, asking God is part of the reason why He created prayer. So, as a child of God, if you go to Him and ask for something you need, you are not wrong. Jesus said in Luke 11:9 (NKJV), that
“… ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
There are some provisions God will lavish your life with without you asking Him. But for some, you must ask Him. If you don’t learn to place your request before God, you will become overdependent on people to provide for you, and if they fail you, you’ll live disappointed in them. Don’t do that, child of God. Let me teach you a secret.
God releases His blessings to men through men. So it is safe to ask Him for your requests for Him to touch men’s hearts to fulfil them for you rather than placing your hope in man to do it. Ask God and it shall be given to you, says Jesus. In other words, your work is to pray; His work is to see how to get it fulfilled, either through men or some other means devoid of sin. Never stop praying!
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for assuring me that when I ask You for whatever I need, it will be given to me. I cancel any worry in my mind concerning how You are going to provide anything I need. Thank You Jesus for divine provision. Amen!
