Hope Deferred Makes the Heart Sick
No matter how nice a boss, a company, or anything your life depends on, never put your hope in there. Always trust in the Lord to fulfil your needs.
Knowing God Devotional is an online daily devotional written by Andrews Baah Kwafo, the president of The Bible Daily Network.
No matter how nice a boss, a company, or anything your life depends on, never put your hope in there. Always trust in the Lord to fulfil your needs.
Dear one, know that God did not save you to come and sit in the church doing nothing. You are a part of God’s workforce. The Bible says you are His workmanship (see Ephesians 2:10). Refuse to be lazy in ministry!
Dear child of God, understand that your way of life, which is holy before God, will always be seen as of no value before the unbelievers in the world. You cannot keep close associates with unbelievers because they will never recognise your value, except when God touches their hearts to receive the gospel in power. Guard your life and mind from listening to foolish talk from people who don’t see the worth involved in serving the Lord with gladness.
Any believer who thinks preaching is just a mere logical presentation but not a powerful demonstration of God’s power gradually sends a message to his hearers that the cross is useless. Beware of such people, especially in the media-saturated world we live in.
Any person’s mind governed by sin and its desire to indulge in it lives in a corrupt state before God. Such a person won’t appreciate how valuable spiritual things in Christ are in life. That is why they are unbelievers. They need Jesus, and who is going to preach to them? You, the one Jesus has sent.
Sometimes, if you want to pray, you may feel tired. But let me tell you that you not in the flesh to be weakened by it. No! You are in the Spirit (see Romans 8:9). So, when you take spiritual matters seriously, the strength of Christ in your spirit will override your weakened flesh, for God to help you do the impossible.
Pray for your leader. Honour your boss. Respect your senior pastor. There are many battles such people fight daily to ensure that your security as a team member or shepherd is not compromised. Don’t join anyone to speak against such people.
Be on guard every day, especially in what you hear online. It is not everyone who preaches the gospel preaches the truth. Do not give attention to anyone who does not acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God, for that person is a liar. Guard your ears and eyes, lest you be deceived by false messiahs.
Because Apostle James knew that favouritism would arise, he was inspired by the Holy Spirit to pen down in his epistle that believers in Christ must not show favouritism, especially in church. In other words, as a ministry leader, give everyone a fair opportunity to merit a certain Biblical standard of living and put conflict of interest aside.
God is always with you. He will never leave nor forsake you. Get that right! So, whether in public or in your closet, He is right there with you. Do what is good, whether a man is checking up on you or not, because, at the end of the day, you will give an account of your life to God, not man.
God, in His own wisdom, does not have any problem with us having more churches. Why? Because the Body of Christ consists of several components, and each part has its own duty. What ministry A is commissioned by God to do may be different from that of ministry B. However, the distinction in divine mandate should not bring diversity to spiritual understanding.
To keep enjoying eternal life in glory, you must keep receiving from the Lord. That is why you must prioritise your daily quiet time with the Lord, regularly going to church and praying. Never get too busy for God because if that happens, you are too busy, which can affect you. Speak life into that situation; pray about it by the revelation of the Word you have. And God will step up into your case.
