Do Not Forget God’s Teachings

[1] “My son, do not forget my law,
But let your heart keep my commands;
[2] For length of days and long life
And peace they will add to you.” – Proverbs 3:1-2 (NKJV)

In an information-saturated age where many people seek new things on the internet to consume, forgetting essential things in life, especially the Word of God, has become the norm for many. Can you imagine how fast people forget everything preached to them in Church just a few moments after service ends? Even during church service, people are on social media platforms and chatting with others while the pastor is preaching. Do you think such people can even capture the understanding of the sermon well? Of course not.

There is a strong warning from scripture that addresses this issue of forgetfulness. In Proverbs 3:1, the Preacher says that as a child of God, you should not forget God’s law (Word) but keep it in your heart. Why? Then he adds in verse 2 that keeping the Word will add length of days, long life and peace to you. Do you want to live long and in peace? Then, I recommend walking in consciousness of the Word every day. In fact, that is a sure way of living despite many troubles in life.

Do not forget God’s teachings. Take your personal fellowship with God seriously. Pursue a deeper intimacy with God on a daily basis. By that continuous effort, you will be able to cement the Word in your spirit.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your Word in my life. Help me to keep it in the midst of my heart every day as I live to fulfil every prophecy you have said concerning my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
