[3] “He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber” – Psalms 121:3 (NIV)
One of the most essential needs of every human is sleep. Even animals sometimes sleep. If anyone is sleep-deprived overnight, it usually affects their concentration level within the day as dizziness and tiredness loom. So, sometimes, I wonder why some people consistently wake up in the middle of the night to use midnight internet bundles to watch movies, and do plenty of things unrelated to work, ministry or business. I see it as a risk to health because the body is not built that way. That is, to work at both night and day constantly. You need rest, so take it when it’s time.
However, God, the creator of the whole universe, never sleeps nor slumbers. You may ask why? Well, because He is infinite in energy. He doesn’t need sleep to replenish lost energy because He is energy Himself. God is omnipresent and self-sustaining. He doesn’t need a man to be God. He can wipe out the whole universe in a split second. But He chose to love you and me, so much so that He gave His Son to come and die for us while we were yet in our sins (see Romans 5:8). Today, if He says He will watch over you, why don’t you trust Him? He who watches over you will not slumber.
God is not a lazy security guard who reports for duty at night but sleeps when it’s getting into the middle of the night. He is more than a bodyguard. He is your shield, guide and protector. He will keep you from stumbling. Anchor your life in Him because He is dependable.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, I believe that Your protection in my life is assured. May I never waver in my confidence in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
