[23] “Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles.” – Proverbs 21:23 (NKJV)
Do you know that many problems people face are a result of the things they say? Yes. When you keep declaring negativity in your life, negative things will keep happening. But when you are positive in mind and in speech, your life will turn out better over time. Think about all the affirmations and declarations God’s Word encourages us to keep making each day. They are all geared towards empowering us as believers so we can enjoy the full benefits of what God has in store for us in Christ.
Proverbs 21:23 says whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles. In other words, if you are careful of the things you say, you anchor your soul (inner man) from feeling dejected and downcast. That is why it is essential to keep declaring God’s Word in your life, whether in good or bad times. The scripture says in 2 Timothy 4:2 (NKJV) that, “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season…”. That word includes preaching to yourself.
You are not supposed to do what God says you should do when the conditions are right. In good and bad times, stick to your godly convictions. Declare what God has said over your life so consistently that your faith remains anchored in the Lord no matter what happens to you. That is how to keep living victoriously in Christ.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your Word in my life. Help me to keep affirming it every day, no matter the conditions in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
