Two Things That Guarantee Security in Leadership

[28] “Love and faithfulness keep a king safe; through love his throne is made secure.” – Proverbs 20:28 (NIV)

If you are a leader, especially after a minimum of four years in leadership, you may have realised that leading people is hard. People are pretty hard to control. When problems happen, they quickly blame leaders and not the actual creators of the problem. That is why, till today, many presidents are blamed for nationwide corruption instead of the corrupt government officials; football coaches are sacked after a dire team performance. Truly, leadership carries so much responsibility, which sometimes poses security risks.

However, an experienced and wise king like Solomon gave out two things that guarantee security in leadership. They are love and faithfulness. When you are leading people who love you, it is better and quite easier because such followers will defend you when something bad happens. And when you have faithful associates, you’ll worry less about betrayal and skipping work because such subordinates will do what they are assigned.

Think about these. It is such a blessing to feel secure in leadership. However, several leaders don’t enjoy this privilege because of the many atrocities that have happened to them in leadership. People just misbehave, no matter how strong you are with your policies. And if you are a leader encountering such a problem, pray for strength to go through each circumstance. However, also be mindful of those you allow into your circle.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving me grace for leadership. Help me to have faithful and lovely associates as I seek to do Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
