[4] “Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed;
Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame;
For you will forget the shame of your youth,
And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.” – Isaiah 54:4 (NKJV)
Isaiah 54:4 is a prophetic Word God gave Israel in anticipation of Jesus’ first coming. And as prophetic and revelatory as such scripture is, I believe it also applies to us believers in Christ today. According to the Bible verse, many believers, especially the young generation, battle with fear and shame because of the trials they are going through. So, to serve as an empowerment to us, God says we shouldn’t fear because we won’t suffer shame or disgrace. But what got me very well is the prophetic statement, “… you will forget the shame of your youth.”
At the time of this writing, I am very young, and I understand what it means to bear shame as a youth. And usually, such a shame isn’t because the youth did something evil. No! It’s coming from many parents who didn’t do their work well to build a Christ-centred family. For example, if your father was promiscuous, then he didn’t set a good example of marriage in your family. And because of that, the blessedness that comes with kingdom marriage isn’t experienced because he didn’t follow God’s principles to honour his marital bed well. So you, the child, grow to bear all kinds of suffering which could have been avoided.
Today, it’s sad to see many heartbroken youth in churches receive Christ and even some ministry support to go to school. To anybody who has gone through this suffering, God says you will forget the shame of your youth. Wake up for change, child of God. It takes a lot to change evil family trends as the emerging child of God with a difference. But God has given you the grace for that. Brace it up, pray and go to work. The Lord will help you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, guide me to set structures and systems that will exalt Your holy name in my family, both now and in future. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
