“Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.” — Romans 7:4 NKJV
I’m not yet married, but I’ve lived long with my parents at home to experience how marriage looks, although not ideally. One thing I know is that even after marriage, a partner may choose to divorce if one can’t stay any longer. Although God hates divorce, He’s also against bad marriages. That’s why all the spiritual laws He has instituted to govern it are for its enjoyment and protection. Take this scenario for an example.
Paul addressed the book of Romans to believers in Rome, among whom some were native Jews. They had laws that guided their behaviour. But they faltered against them several times, so they were unrighteous. Now Paul tells them that when they got saved, they had sealed any relationship with the law. And now, they are married to Jesus, to bear fruit unto Him. That means there are no spiritual grounds against their sin, and that is our case too.
Child of God, you are married to Jesus. And since marriage comes with faithfulness, you only owe allegiance to Jesus – to submit and serve Him with all gladness at heart.

As believers in Christ, Jesus has died for our sins and saved us. So there has been a divorce from dead works, and hence, a new marriage unto Him. That’s why Jesus is the Head, and the Church is His bride, which you and I are part of (Ephesians 5:23).
Child of God, you are married to Jesus. And since marriage comes with faithfulness, you only owe allegiance to Jesus – to submit and serve Him with all gladness at heart. All the fruits you’ll ever bear in God’s kingdom are totally dependent on your relationship with Him.
Don’t cheat on the lover of your soul by offering your body as an instrument of unrighteousness. He’ll not divorce you because you’ll never lose your salvation. But you’ll grieve His Spirit in you because of your attitude. It’s time to submit all your ways unto Him for transformation.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, thank you for saving me. I was dead in sins, never knowing how terrible my life was until You found me. Help me submit unto your leadership and training as you raise me into a mighty giant in your kingdom, zealous for good works. Amen.
