[19] “Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household,” – Ephesians 2:19 (NIV)
Once, I walked out of where I used to live to get something to buy. On my way, I saw a young child, about fifteen years old, saying “hi” to another person. From her accent, the man asked her, “Are you a foreigner?” But the child said “no.” Then, I, passing by, concluded that she had lived abroad with her parents for a while before returning to Ghana, probably for some holidays.
When the Bible says you are no longer foreigners and strangers but a fellow citizen with God’s people and members of His household, guess what it means? It implies that you belong to God and the family of believers. If it is to be an organisational setting, it’s like you becoming a part of the internal team instead of watching what the organisation does from afar.
When you get saved, God does not treat you like a foreigner. No! Because of His love, He calls you by name and makes you belong to a family of believers. That is why skipping church as a child of God is not good, especially if you are a recent convert. Just as a citizen of every nation uses the nation’s resources, become an active partaker of the activities in God’s family. He is with you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for making me belong to Your family today. Help me to love You and the brethren with all my heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
