[3] “All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. [4] But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, [5] made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions —it is by grace you have been saved.” – Ephesians 2:3-5 (NIV)
Did you know that your flesh has cravings? Many unbelievers, although they live by the cravings of their flesh, are not even aware that what they do every day is powered by a longing not coming from them. Look at what the Bible says in Ephesians 2:3.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul said that when we were unbelievers, we were gratifying the cravings of the flesh and following its desires and thoughts. That is the same way of life for many unbelievers of today. They are living by the dictates of sinful desires in their thoughts and actions. In fact, such people cannot overcome such cravings because they don’t have the spirit of grace in them since they aren’t born again.
Today, if you want to live above the dictates of the flesh, you need God’s salvation, not strategies to overcome bad habits. The Holy Spirit carries what you need to live above sin. So, when you become born again, and He comes to live in you, you will receive divine enablement to live unto God. Don’t try to live in God’s way without Him. Accept Jesus and keep pursuing a deeper intimacy with Him. You’ll not live to serve sin but to serve God.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for all You do for me, even the ones I fail to recognise. Help me to live above the cravings of my flesh to serve You with gladness. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
