[12] “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. [13] For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free —and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.” – 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 (NIV)
When I was doing my undergraduate degree at the university, medical students were one of those rare courses that lasted longer in school. Almost every programme in the university lasted about four years, but human biology students took six years. Why? Because it takes a long time to study how the human body functions. See, your body has plenty of things in it that you don’t even know. But all of them function together to help you do whatever you can with it without struggles.
Now, the Bible says that the body of Christ is just one but has many parts. And each part is occupied by every believer in Christ. So, combining all the body parts, the Church exists as one body. But that’s not all. The Bible says we are all baptised by one Spirit so as to form this Body of Christ. That means, in Christ, where a person comes from on this Earth does not matter. Why? Because the Spirit of God that dwells in that person is the same Spirit that dwells in other believers, too. And since each Christian has this seal of the Holy Spirit, identity crises in one’s life have ceased. But, what is left is for believers to study and know who God has made them.
You’ve got the Holy Ghost in you. But do you know Him? Think about that! Jesus defined eternal life as knowing Him as the sent One and God (see John 17:3). Always find a way to know God deeper every day amidst the busyness of this life.
Prayer:
Father, help me to know You better. With the seal of the Spirit in me, I know I will not be put to shame. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
